HEVI LEVI has returned with another mesmerizing melodic techno track, ‘Don’t You Want’, released on the 30th of November via his own record label Joy Group. The track is the Israeli producer’s interpretation of the 90’s hit, ‘Don’t You Want Me’, by British House producer Felix. The accompanying music video features visual artist Nora Solomon painting a piece to the song. HEVI LEVI has performed in underground clubs and at some of the biggest music festivals around the world, namely Tomorrowland, Laundry Day and Escape to name but a few. He’s also received international support from publications such as Mixmag Brasil and many more. In addition to this, his music has received significant airtime on esteemed programmes such as BBC Radio 6‘s Nemone sitting in for Mary Anne Hobbs. Inspired by greats such as Faithless, Depeche Mode, and Rüfüs Du Sol, his musical style is reminiscent of artists like Kevin de Vries, ARTBAT, and Saint Vie.
‘Don’t You Want’ is unpredictable yet completely hypnotic. HEVI LEVI’s meticulous production marries the darker elements of techno with the danceability and mainstream appeal of house music, with a touch of trance. A pulsating percussive rhythm over a four-on-the-floor beat with a deep, bouncing bassline akin to the likes of ARTBAT and Moonwalk carries the original song’s iconic delay-soaked vocal sample while arpeggiated sequences, acid synth stabs and echoey chords swirling around the stereo image.
HEVI LEVI commented: “When I was a beginner DJ and young, I was always captivated by a track called ‘Don’t You Want Me’ by Felix. So I decided that I am going to bring it back to life with a 2023 version with my own sound and vibe.”
