Getting to know award-winning Swedish music producer Lucas Nord

Lucas Nord has released our new favourite mellow dance anthem, track called  ‘No One Even Knows My Name (Ft. Husky)’. Nord is known for making a good impression in the dance music scene with Tove Lo’s ‘Run On Love’, which ranked #1 on the Billboard’s Dance Chart, to his more recent collaboration on the Galantis track ‘Feel Something’. The producer continues to make his mark by winning his first Norwegian Grammy last year for Urban Record of the Year with Sony Norway’s artist Emir.

We find out what gets this hit-maker tick below.

How did yourself and Husky join forces, and decide on the topic of the song?

Me and Husky had done a few writing sessions since our publisher connected us. But that day it all started with us just talking about the industry and how we got started. And Husky told us this story about how she got invited to this party with a bunch of big shots. and how she quickly realized no one really cared about her being there. And that made us think that would be a cool idea for a song.

You have mentioned previously that you like how the song still has hope in it. Please elaborate on what you meant.

It has that, I might be small today and you might not see me now but “one day you’ll see”, you know? It all kinda switches in the bridge which gives the track a feeling of hope I guess.

Who were your first musical influences that you can remember? Who inspired you to start producing music?

I grew up in a family of musicians so I’d say they were my first musical influences. Anything they played me always inspired me. I picked up producing cause some of my friends were taking it more and more seriously in high school, so kinda just sat with them in the studio and tried to learn as much as possible from them.

What would you like to achieve with your music? What does success look like to you?

That I do this for a job is kinda ridiculous already cause I love it so much. So I couldn’t really ask for more, but at the end of the day, you always want your music to get heard by as many people as possible. But if I can keep doing this every day that’s success to me.

What does your current software/hardware setup currently consist of?

Basically it’s just my laptop, Ableton, and track vocals in Logic.

Outside of music, what inspires you?

I feel like I get inspired from just everyday life. A melody, title, or a groove can pop up whenever. You just gotta be ready with your voice notes at all times haha.

What kind of relationship do you have with the internet? How does this inform your artistic expression?

I often feel like an old man when it comes to the internet. I’ve never really been interested to be honest, but I’m slowly getting more and more into social media. And the more I do it and interact with people, the more fun it is. But well yeah I’d say I feel a bit behind quite often when it comes to the world wide web.

As a performer or as a member of the audience, what single show has been the most memorable for you?

Playing KOKO in London is something I’ll never forget. I was supporting R5 and it was completely sold out. It had been a dream of mine since being a kid to be playing there one day, so I’m very happy I got to do that.

Any new or upcoming artists on your radar?

Picard Brothers, Jevon, Bree Runway, and Kito are some up and coming artists that have all been putting out quality stuff lately.

Please suggest an album for us to listen to.

What can we expect from you in the near future? Any upcoming projects or gigs in the pipeline that you would like to tell us about?

I’m gonna put out a few songs over the year, and then an EP later this fall that I’m very excited about!
